6u0X J9 PAGE 2.96 <br />Minutes from the April 7, 2003 regular meeting <br />Acceptance of a $100 donation from BB&T for the THANKS Menloring <br />Program <br />Acceptance of grant funds in the amount of $201,122 from the Governor's <br />Crime Commission for Youth and Family Services <br />➢ Tax Releases and Refunds for March 2003 (copy attached) <br />Budget Amendment # 04/21/03/#17 (copy attached) <br />i Application for Public School Building Capital Fund for the construction <br />of Broadway Elementary School (copy attached) <br />FY 2003-04 Consolidated Agreement between the Lee County Health <br />Department and the State of North Carolina <br />Resolution requesting the placement of a stop light at the intersection of <br />Courtland Drive and Harkey Road (copy attached) <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />County Attorney K. R. Hoyle gave the board an update on the old DMV building. <br />He told the board that he and Public Works Director Kenny Cole had recently met with <br />representatives in Raleigh concerning a revised Deed for the DMV property located on <br />Old Carbonton Road. Mr. Hoyle stated that the State would have to revise and issue a <br />new Deed before the county can dispose of the property. Commissioner Reives asked <br />Mr. Hoyle to send a letter to the Lee County delegates asking their assistance in this <br />matter. No action was taken on the matter. <br />County Manager William Cowan discussed with the board the proposed MIS <br />merger between the County and the City of Sanford. Mr. Cowan is to meet with the City <br />Manager, Lee County MIS Director Lcsa Price, and City MIS Director John Clayton to <br />discuss their respective departments. Commissioner Reives asked that Mr. Cowan supply <br />the board with a report concerning this matter at the next meeting on May 5, 2003. No <br />action was taken on the matter. <br />Mr. Hoyle discussed with the board a revision to the Planning Contract with the <br />City of Sanford. The board asked Mr. Cowan and Mr. Hoyle to meet with City Manager <br />Leonard Barefoot to discuss the contract and report back to the board at the next meeting <br />on May 5, 2003. No action was taken on the matter. <br />The board discussed how they wished to make appointments to boards and <br />commissions. Chairman Hincks asked The Sanford Herald to run an article letting the <br />public now how many vacancies are available on each board or commission. <br />2 <br />
