0 0 <br />EN 19 rac= J2 8< <br />Commissioner Matthews expressed concerns she had from a recent Sanford <br />Herald article that stated the county did not have a Fire Marshal. City Inspector Travis <br />Phillips currently does limited fire inspections for the County in addition to his inspection <br />duties since the City and County merged the Inspections Departments earlier in the year. <br />This arrangement will expire on June 30, 2003. Mr. Cowan was asked to find out what <br />.fire qualifications Mr. Phillips possesses. No action was taken on the matter. <br />Commissioner Reives asked County Manager William Cowan to contact the <br />Board of Education and get a written detailed analysis of the $10 million renovation <br />project they are proposing for Lee Senior High School. <br />Commissioner Reives asked questions concerning the DARE Program that is <br />administered through the Sheriff's Office for local fifth grade students in the school <br />system. <br />The board held a public hearing that had been advertised for this date and time for <br />the Rural Operating Assistance Program (ROAP) to fund the Elderly and Disabled <br />Transportation Program, Work First Employment Transportation Program and the Rural <br />General Public Transportation Program. Senior Services Director Debbie Davidson told <br />the board the total proposed grant funds to be allocated to Lee County for fiscal year <br />2003-04 is S86,3S3.00, with no matching funds required. <br />0 Chairman Hincks opened the public hearing. <br />No one present spoke in favor of or in opposition to the programs. <br />Chairman Hincks closed the public hearing. <br />Commissioner Reives moved to approve the application package for the Rural <br />Operating Assistance Program. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lenumond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Chairman Hincks recessed the regular meeting of the board to go into the Lee <br />County Water and Sewer District No. 1 meeting. <br />After completing business in the Lee County Water and Sewer District No. 1 <br />meeting Commissioner Matthews moved to go out of the Lee County Water and Sewer <br />District No. 1 meeting. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lenmiond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />9 <br />
