0 0 <br />EN 19 r1cF X79 <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The board considered expansion of Lee County's computer recycling program. <br />Solid Waste Superintendent Joe Cherry told the board that in July 2000 Lee County <br />became one of the first North Carolina communities to implement a computer-recycling <br />program and since that time has recycled 8 tons of computer equipment and 738 <br />monitors. i-le told the board that due to the cost involved, computer recycling is limited <br />to those generated by residents of the county's unincorporated areas. Mr. Cherry asked <br />that the board consider the expansion of Lee County's computer recycling program to <br />accept computers from Lee County businesses and schools and residents of the City of <br />Sanford and Town of Broadway for a fee of S 10.00 per computer with monitor or $5.00 <br />per computer without a monitor. The proposed fee would cover the county's costs and all <br />-computers will be recycled or disposed of according to state and federal piles and <br />regulations. Commissioner Reives moved to approve the expansion of the county's <br />computer recycling program and accept computers from Lee County businesses and <br />schools, and residents of the City of Sanford and Town of Broadway. Upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Stevens <br />• Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The board considered matters pertaining to Public Works. Public Works Director <br />Kenny Cole told the board that the two-unit cooling system at the main Library is 25 <br />years old and needs to be replaced. Mr. Cole asked that the board allow him to obtain <br />bids for the purchase of a new cooling unit and installation. Commissioner Matthews <br />moved for Mr. Cole to proceed with obtaining bids as presented.
