0 0 <br />ai:o; 19 FacF 2'57 <br />The board discussed the agenda for the upcoming Commissioner's Planning <br />Retreat that is scheduled for Mach 2S, 2003. Various agenda items were discussed and a <br />revised agenda was presented. After some discussion, Commissioner Adams moved to <br />approve the amended agenda. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />Absent-. Paschal <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Matthews discussed with the board the need for additional parking <br />space at the courthouse. After some discussion, it was decided to discuss this matter in <br />more detail at the next meeting on April 7, 2003. <br />Commissioner Matthews discussed with the board a proposed policy change for <br />Social Services concerning the filling of vacant positions when people are promoted from <br />within. After some discussion, it was decided to discuss this matter during the upcoming <br />budget process. <br />No action was taken on the matter. <br />Chaimran Hincks opened a joint public hearing with the Planning Board that had <br />been advertised for this date and time concerning a proposed amendment to the Lee <br />County Zoning Ordinance for Table of Area and Yard Reguire7ieuts. Planner Althea <br />Thompson outlined the proposed changes. No one present spoke in favor of or in <br />opposition to the proposed changes. Chairman Hincks closed the public hearing. No <br />action was taken on the matter. <br />Commissioner Stevens discussed a complaint she had received concerning <br />Buckhorn Road. After some discussion, the board agreed to send a letter to the <br />Department of Transportation asking them to conduct a speed limit study and inquire into <br />the completion schedule for widening of the shoulders along this road. <br />The regular meeting of the board was recessed until 5:30 p.m. at the McSwain <br />Extension Education & Agricultural Center. <br />Commissioner Adams moved to go into the Lee County Water and Sewer District <br />No. 1 meeting.
