Update on Surplus Property Located at 830 Eagles Nest Drive, Sanford, NC <br />County Attorney Whitney Parrish provided an update and proposed a final <br />resolution authorizing the sale of property located at 830 Eagles Nest Drive, Sanford, NC. <br />Attorney Parrish stated that on May 1, 2017, the Board of Commissioners accepted an <br />offer to purchase the property from Kenneth Garrett, on behalf of KGC-LLC for $2,326.77. <br />Lee County acquired the property through a foreclosure sale in 2013. The total amount of <br />fees and taxes owed on the property is $2,326.77, and the taxable value is $3,500.00. The <br />newspaper advertisement was run in The Sanford Herald on May 4, 2017. The ten days <br />required for the upset bid to stay open expired on May 14, 2017. Attorney Parrish <br />requested the Board's authorization of county officials and staff to execute the necessary <br />sale documents. Commissioner Knecht moved to approve the Final Resolution Authorizing <br />the Sale of Surplus Property Located at 830 Eagles Nest Drive, Sanford NC, a copy of the <br />final resolution authorizing the sale is attached to these minutes and by this reference <br />made a part hereof. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dalrymple, Dodson, Knecht, Oldham, Reives, Sharpe <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Sloan <br />The Chair ruled the motion had been adopted 6-0. <br />E. Audit Contract with Thompson, Price, Scott, Adams & Co, P.A. <br />Finance Director Lisa Minter requested approval of an audit contract with <br />Thompson, Price, Scott, Adams & Co, P.A. for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2016. She <br />stated that the County is required to have an audit of its financial statements each year. On <br />April 2, 2015, the Board approved a 5 -year audit services proposal with Thompson, Price, <br />Scott, Adams & Co, P.A. Each year, the Local Government Commission requires that a <br />Contract to Audit Accounts be approved by the audit firm, the Board of Commissioners and <br />the LGC before the audit work can begin. The cost of the audit is $35,500.00 and will be <br />included in the fiscal year 2017-2018 budget. Commissioner Oldham moved to approve <br />the audit contract with Thompson, Price, Scott, Adams & Co, P.A., a copy of which is <br />attached to these minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. Letter of Appreciation for Jahmir Smith <br />Commissioner Reives requested the Board's approval of a letter of appreciation for <br />Jahmir Smith.
