project and ask if they want to participate. Participation will require that they pay the
monthly bill for water, which is estimated to run $25.00 to $35.00 per month.
Other Items
FY 2017-18 Fiscal Year Budget Development — As of the writing of this report, the
County Manager's recommended budget is complete except for review of the Board of
Education's requested budget. Based on significant changes to their budgets, I am
recommending that the Board meet with CCCC, DSS, and Parks and Recreation at this
meeting. Other agencies and departments can meet with the Board at the June 6 meeting.
At the May 22 budget meeting, Mayor Donald Andrews will present the Fire Departments
recommended budgets. In addition, we will also present the County's five year CIP and
financing plan for the Wicker School debt issuance.
SAGA Contract - County and SAGA staff are reviewing a draft of the SAGA Contract.
We plan to place this item before the commissioners at the June 5th Board meeting.
Economic Development Meeting — East Carolina University is offering a one -day
seminar on preparing local officials for the roles they will play in economic development.
Chairman Dalrymple has proposed that we consider participating in this program. She
has proposed that it take place in July. Rockingham County was the first County to take
part in this seminar in April. This would give the commissioners and community
stakeholders an opportunity to review the County's economic strategic plan and review
what it takes to have a successful economic development program.
Raleigh Executive Jetport Planning — As part of the NCDOT grant program, the Airport
Authority is required to develop a long-range strategic plan. I have attached a report that
was given to the Authority at our last meeting in April. The report contains interesting
information on the growth of the airport. As the authority progresses with this plan, I will
continue to forward information to you.
Reports
Building Inspections Report — Please find attached the April Building Inspections
Report.
Community Development/Activity Summary — The April report is attached.
Tax Report — Please find attached the Tax Collection Summary Report for April.
