No action was taken. <br />Meeting dates for the month of December 2004 were discussed. The consensus of <br />the Board was to hold the swearing in ceremony for Commissioners on Monday, <br />December 6, 2004, at 9:00 a.m. in Courtroom #2 at the new Lee County Courthouse. A <br />reception will immediately follow the ceremony to honor new Commissioners, <br />Commissioner Bert Matthews for her years of service as a County Commissioner and <br />Nellie Thomas for her service as Register of Deeds. The Board will meet briefly at 11:00 <br />a.m. in Courtroom #2 at the new Lee County Courthouse to select a Chairman and Vice <br />Chairman for the coming year and take care of emergency items designed by the County <br />Manager. A second meeting will be held on Monday, December 13, 2004, at 9:00 a.m. at <br />the Lee County Government Center to handle other routine matters that need Board <br />action. <br />Finance Director Lisa Minter gave the Board a financial update on the county's <br />current financial position and recent audit report. No action was taken. <br />The Board considered an Ordinance to prohibit begging/solicitation in the <br />County. Captain James Estes explained the need for the Ordinance and answered <br />questions from Board members. <br />Chairman Hincks opened the public hearing that had been advertised for this date <br />and time. <br />No one present spoke in favor of or against the proposed Ordinance. <br />Chairman Hincks closed the public hearing. <br />After much discussion, the Board asked County Attorney K. R. Hoyle to re-draft <br />the Ordinance incorporating concerns of some Board members and re-advertise for a <br />second public hearing to be held December 13, 2004. No action was taken on the matter. <br />The Board considered two appointments to the Mid-Carolina Work Force <br />Development Board. Chairman Hincks told the Board that Mike Stone and Richard <br />Littiken no longer wished to serve on' the Mid-Carolina Board. Board members were <br />asked to make nominations for these two replacements at the December 13, 2004, <br />meeting. <br />County Manager David Smitherman updated the Board on the following matters: <br />• Pay classification and compensation study - Currently checking <br />references on two lowest bidders. This item will be on the <br />December 6`" agenda. <br />5 <br />
