b~On V F GG 90 <br />No one present spoke in opposition to the request. <br />Chairman Hincks closed the public hearing. <br />Commissioner Stevens moved to approve the acceptance of a Local Law <br />Enforcement Block Grant in the amount of $3,668 to purchase two (2) in-car cameras. <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lenunond, Matthews, Paschal. Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered "time-sensitive" positions. County Manager David <br />Smitherman asked that the Board eliminate Board approval for certain "time-sensitive" <br />positions in various departments. He told the Board that in 2001 the Board of <br />Commissioners requested that all departments bring any vacancies they had to the Board <br />for approval before hiring new individuals. Mr. Smitherman stated that he would like the <br />Board to allow him to approve the hiring of certain positions without Board approval. <br />After some discussion, Commissioner Matthews moved to allow the County Manager to <br />approve the following "time-sensitive' positions without Board approval: <br />Senior Services <br />• Transportation Coordinator <br />MIS Department <br />• All positions <br />Public Works <br />• Heavy Equipment Operator <br />• Clerk IV <br />• Sanitation Equipment Operator <br />Register of Deeds <br />All positions <br />Social Services <br />• Social Workers and Supervisor in Children's Protective <br />Services Unit <br />• Social Workers and Supervisor in Foster Care/Adoptions <br />• Eligibility-Social Workers in Food Stamps, Work First, Medicaid, <br />and Day Care <br />• Social Workers in Adult Services and Supervisor <br />• Budget Officer <br />• Personnel <br />• Child Support Caseworkers and Supervisor <br />4 <br />
