H <br />D <br />0 i lcF 60 <br />Otte aCee Tountg uarb of Tommissinnero <br />+ e,solution <br />WHEREAS, John Fletcher Rosser was born on October 6, 1926, in Sanford, North Carolina, to <br />Sion Hubert Rosser and Mattie Gaster Rosser, graduated from Broadway School in 1942, North Carolina <br />State University in 1949, and served two years in the U.S. Air Force; and <br />WHEREAS, many of Fletcher Rosser's accomplishments include serving as president of both the <br />Broadway Lions and Sanford Rotary Clubs, 1968 Rotarian of the year, member of the Sanford Elks Lodge <br />for 40 years, member of the American Legion and VFW for over 50 years, received the Elk of the Year <br />award in 1969-70, Christian Service Award in 1987 from the Sanford Kiwanis Club, and the Citizen of the <br />Year award from the Civitan Club in 1999; and <br />WHEREAS, Fletcher Rosser had great passion for sports, was a member of the N.C. State <br />University Alumni and served as Chairman for 10 years for Lee County, and was a member of the NCSU <br />Wolf Pack Club, serving as Lee County Chairman for 30 years and <br />WHEREAS, Fletcher Rosser was also given the 1999 Governor's Award for Outstanding <br />Volunteer Service and was named 1999 Small Business Person of the Year, along with being one of the <br />daily chefs at the Breadbasket since its inception; and <br />WHEREAS, Fletcher Rosser was a deeply religious man, a member of the St. Luke United <br />Methodist Church for 35 years, chief usher for 30 years and a charter member of the St. Luke Wednesday <br />Morning Prayer Breakfast. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Lee County Board of Commissioners <br />proclaims September 24 2004, as Fletcher Rosser Day in Lee County in memory of his distinguished and <br />dedicated service to the citizens of Lee County. <br />Adopted this the day of September 2004. <br />Nathan E.
