Paschal, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: Lemmond and Matthews <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted by a five to two vote. <br />Mr. Kepley gave the Board an update on the tax revaluation process. Fie stated <br />that he and staff are reviewing applications for data collectors and should have at least <br />two (2) data collectors in the field by the end of the month. Mr. Kepley also told the <br />Board that no additional discoveries were made after additional samples were reviewed. <br />The Board considered bids for the construction of Phase I of the Tramway Road <br />Park. Recreation Director John Payne presented the following bids for consideration: <br />McGhee Construction $ 997.204 <br />Sneads Ferry, NC <br />J M Thompson $1,078.000 <br />Raleigh, NC <br />Ellis-Walker Builders $1.087,800 <br />Fayetteville. NC <br />Sanford Contractors $1,267.450 <br />Sanford. NC <br />Mr. Payne told the Board that the above bids were double what the cost of the project was <br />estimated at approximately one year ago. CLH Design representative Jim Chandler was <br />present and participated in discussion. After much discussion, Commissioner Matthews <br />moved to reject all bids and re-bid the project. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lenunond, Matthews, Paschal. Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. Mr. Payne was <br />asked by the Board to meet with design representatives and discuss ways to save money <br />and still get top quality for the project. <br />The Board considered the current Vehicle Maintenance Agreement with the City <br />of Sanford that will expire on October 1. 2004. A letter was sent to City Manager <br />Leonard Barefoot on June 29. 2004, advising the City that the County would like to re- <br />negotiate the current agreement. A letter was also sent to the City on September 15. <br />2004, requesting an extension to the deadline from October 3, 2004, to December 1, <br />2004.
