P"GE 68 <br />KiA i~V <br />C~7 <br />Lee County Animal Control and Shelter <br />Adoption - Spay/Neuter Policy <br />The prospective adopting parry will be required to schedule an <br />appointment with the veterinarian office / service of their choice and either <br />pre-pay or meet that office's payment policy for the following mandatory <br />procedures: <br />1. Basic Health Exam <br />2. Rabies and DHLPP/FVRCP <br />3. Spay/Neuter Surgerv <br />• The veterinarian office / service will complete the adoption certificate <br />confirming the appointment and that pre-payment has been made; or for <br />an established client, that pre-payment was waived. <br />• The prospective adopting party will present the completed certificate to <br />our shelter within two working days of initial visit and the animal will be <br />released into their custody*. <br />• After the appointment date, a follow up call will be made to the veterinary <br />office/ service to confirm that mandatory procedures were completed. If <br />the procedure was not completed or rescheduled, we will contact the <br />adopter and if necessary, reclaim the animal. <br />• * In breeds (or in dogs with the predominate breed) of Rottweiler or Pitt <br />Bull which can be abused in illegal dog fighting operations, shelter staff <br />will be required to transport them to the veterinarian office / service to <br />assure that spay and neutering will occur. <br />
