If a retiree chooses to elect a more
expensive plan he/she will be responsible for paying the difference in cost between the premium
amount allowed for the base plan and the applicable premium charged for the more expensive plan.
All covered retiring employees will be required to report any other group medical coverage which
they have at the time of retirement or which they may obtain subsequent to retirement so that
benefits can be coordinated with the other insurance carrier. Any group coverage will be considered
primary and the Lee County coverage will be secondary. Failure to report other coverage will be
considered justification for the County to terminate retiree coverage. Coverage will be forfeited if
the retiree moves out of the Group Health Plan service area.
No employee who is terminated involuntarily will be eligible for this benefit other than those
qualifying under the on-the-job related disability situation listed in #4 above.
