d,~ <br />UJUn .L wc~ u <br />D <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Chairman Hincks moved to participate in the Triangle J COG for FY 2004-05 at a <br />cost of $10,200, and $6,000 for the Triangle Area Rural Planning Organization (RPO). <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: Adams <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted by a six to one vote. <br />Commissioner Reives discussed a part-time position that had been requested in <br />the Register of Deeds Office and not recommended by the County Manager. After some <br />discussion, Commissioner Reives moved that the position be included in the FY 2004-05 <br />budget and $6,620 be added to the Register of Deeds budget. Upon a vote, the results <br />were as follows: <br />Aye: Lemmond, Matthews, and Reives <br />Nay: Adams, Hincks, Paschal, and Stevens <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had failed by a four to three vote. <br />The Board took a fifteen-minute recess at this time. <br />Upon returning from recess, with all members present, the meeting resumed. <br />Chairman Hincks moved to approve the Budget Ordinance for FY 2004-05, with <br />the above reductions, and increase the tax rate from 67 cents (67¢) to 69 cents (69¢.) <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Hincks, Paschal, and Stevens <br />Nay: Adams, Lemmond, Matthews, and Reives <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had failed with a four to three vote. <br />Commissioner Matthews asked that the Board discuss a water line matter <br />concerning Mr. Dale Matthews. Public Works Director Kenny Cole told the Board that <br />Mr. Matthews was trying to obtain public water for a seven-lot minor sub-division but <br />according to the Lee County Water Policy, the subdivision did not meet the requirements <br />because one of the lots fronts on a public right-of-way. No action was taken on the <br />matter. <br />Commissioner Matthews also discussed with the Board a matter concerning Mr. <br />Dwayne Jackson who owns several chicken houses. Mrs. Matthews stated that Mr. <br />Jackson's water bill has gone from $1,400 a month to $2,000 per month and he was <br />asking for a reduced rate or he would disconnect from the county water system.
