LirDil IWW, uE J1.~ <br />RESOLUTION <br />AUTHORIZING THE ADVERTISEMENT <br />OF AN OFFER <br />TO PURCHASE 1.04 ACRES OF LAND <br />IN GREENWOOD TOWNSHIP ADJACENT TO THE SITE OF <br />McQUEEN'S CHAPEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH <br />WHEREAS, Lee County acquired title to a tract of land containing 113.74 acres <br />as a part of its landfill site in Greenwood Township; and <br />WHEREAS, McQueen's Chapel United Methodist Church had its property <br />surveyed on September 23, 2003, at which time they discovered approximately sixteen <br />(16) grave sites; its septic system and a propane tank were located on property which <br />belongs to Lee County; and <br />WHEREAS, the Trustee's of McQueen's Chapel United Methodist Church have <br />made an offer to purchase 1.04 acres of land from Lee County in order to correct the <br />encroachment; and <br />WHEREAS, the Division of Waste Management of the North Carolina <br />Department of Environment and Natural Resources has found that the sale of the 1.04 <br />acre tract of land is acceptable but the county must satisfy certain conditions as set forth <br />in its letter of February 20. 2004, to Mr. Kenneth C. Cole_ Director of Public Works for <br />Lee County; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners for Lee County desires to dispose of <br />said property as being surplus to its need. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the <br />County of Lee as follows: <br />1. That the 1.04 acre tract of land located just south of the site of the McQueen's <br />Chapel United Methodist Church in Greenwood Township and as described in <br />"Exhibit A" to this resolution is hereby declared to be surplus to the needs of <br />the County of Lee. <br />2. That the County of Lee has received an offer from the Trustees of the <br />McQueen's United Methodist Church to purchase said property for the sum of <br />one thousand seven hundred thirty-seven dollars and thirty cents ($1,737.30.) <br />3. That the County of Lee proposes to accept the offer provided deposits are <br />made in accordance with the other provisions of this resolution. <br />4. The offeror shall deposit with the Lee County Finance Office the sum of one <br />hundred and fifty dollars ($150) to defray the cost of advertising and <br />administrative services in connection with this offer. Failure to make such <br />deposit within thirteen (13) days following mailing of notice of such <br />requirement by the Clerk to the Board will negate any further proceedings <br />
