He told the Board that no matching fiords would be required from the County for
this project. Commissioner Paschal moved to approve the endorsement of a letter to the
NCDOT Enhancement Unit for the Endor Iron Furnace project, a copy of which is
attached to these minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. Dr. Aycock told the Board that
bids had been received twice and both times the bids increased higher than the $81,600
allocated by the Commissioners. A cost of $177,948 has been negotiated from Kelly
Pluming of Wilmington to install the grease traps. He asked that the Board appropriate
an additional $96,348 so the July 1, 2004, deadline can be met and all cafeterias can
operate next school year. Commissioner Stevens moved to approve an additional
$96,348 to the Board of Education to install grease traps at the above-mentioned schools.
Upon a vote, the results were as follows:
Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Stevens
Nav: None
The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously.
Dr. Aycock also asked that the Board transfer the $81,600 appropriated in
December 2003 for grease traps to capital outlay expenses rather than current expense as
previously requested.
