T. Sloan. Recreation Director
John Payne told the Board that the tennis courts at Kiwanis Children's Park Place were
completely rebuilt in 1994, and since that time a couple of the courts have worn through in
some areas. He told the Board that the Kiwanis Club of Lee County has agreed to provide
$4,000 toward the cost of resurfacing the four (4) courts. T. Sloan were rebuilt using an overlay system
in the Fall of 1999. The Rotary Club of Sanford sponsors these courts and they have
agreed to pay for resurfacing the six (6) courts at this location. Mr. Payne asked that the
Board approve the low bid from North State Resurfacing for $7,600 to resurface the four
(4) courts at Kiwanis Children's Park Place. He also asked that the Board accept the
monetary gifts from the Rotary Club of Sanford and the Kiwanis Club of Lee County and
allocate $3,600.00 towards these projects so work can be scheduled as soon as weather
permits. Commissioner Adams moved to accept Mr. Payne's recommendation. Upon a
vote, the results were as follows:
Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Stevens
Nay: None
The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously.
Mr. Payne was asked to draft letters to the Kiwanis Club of Lee County and Rotary
Club of Sanford thanking them for their contributions for these projects.
The Board considered Planning and Inspection settlements with the City of
Sanford. Finance Director Lisa Minter told the Board that she and the City Finance
Director have reviewed and agree on budgets for the Planning and Inspection Departments
for FY 2002-2003.
