PSG` <br />uG:;K -49 <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Health Director Mike Hanes gave the Board an update on a recent letter he sent <br />Kate Rumely from Brick Capital Community Development concerning the Board of <br />Health's interest in leasing space at the renovated W. B. Wicker School for the Lee County <br />Dental Clinic. The letter stated that if the Children's Dental Clinic is healthy in January <br />2006, when construction is complete, the Lee County Health Department intends to move <br />to the new Wicker facility. No action was taken on the matter. <br />Commissioner Lemmond gave the Board an update on a jail tour that some Board <br />members took on February 18, 2004. Commissioner Lemmond and Capt. James Estes <br />discussed security concerns that the Sheri ff's Office has with the jail facility. Capt. Estes <br />also discussed a quote received from Diversified Control Systems, Inc. for material and <br />installation of 34 new color cameras, video recorder and monitors for the jail area. After <br />much discussion, Chairman Hincks moved that County Manager William Cowan work <br />with the Sheriff's Office on securing bids from other security companies for equipment. <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Health Director Mike Hanes discussed with the Board a request to hire four <br />employees in his department beyond the fifth step. Mr. Hanes outlined the positions in <br />question and his reasons for asking for the higher salary and additional benefits. After <br />some discussion, Commissioner Stevens moved to approve the following new hires for the <br />Lee County Health Department: <br />• Public Health Dentist I - $90,000 with a 5% increase in July 2005, and earn <br />13.33 hours per month of annual leave <br />• Public Health Educator 11 - Grade 67/Step 12 ($41,605) and earn 17.33 <br />hours per month annual leave <br />Public Health Education Specialist - Grade 65/Step 7 ($36,388) <br />Staff Nurse for Primary Care (half-time position) - Grade 68/Step 10 <br />($20,802) <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />3 <br />
