H <br />FjNNX 44L9 PACE 803 <br />D <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR THE <br />COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />MARCH 15, 2004 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State of <br />North Carolina, convened at 3:00 o'clock p.m. in the Commissioners' Room, Lee County <br />Government Center, 106 Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, North Carolina. Commissioners present <br />were W. Chad Adams, Herbert A. Hincks, Jerry M. Lenvnond, Bertha L. Matthews, <br />J Nathan E. Paschal, Robert T. Reives, and Amy L. Stevens. <br />Chairman Hincks presided and the following business was transacted: <br />Rev. Jerry Lowry delivered the invocation. <br />Commissioner Paschal led the pledge of allegiance. <br />The Board considered additional agenda items, which consisted of the following <br />additions: <br />• County Manager William Cowan asked that the Board discuss the <br />upcoming Board Retreat that is scheduled for April 16, 2004 <br />• County Manager William Cowan asked that the "Closed Session" be <br />removed from the agenda <br />• Commissioner Reives asked that a letter dated March 11, 2004, from Lee- <br />Harnett Mental Health concerning a commitment from the Board of <br />Commissioners to authorize Lee-Harnett Area Authority to engage in good <br />faith merger negotiations with Cumberland County Mental Health Center <br />and Cumberland County be discussed <br />• Commissioner Lemmond asked that action to rescind a Tax Release matter <br />that was taken at the February 16, 2004, meeting concerning his brother, be <br />placed on the April 5, 2004, agenda <br />Commissioner Matthews moved to approve the agenda as printed with the above additions. <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />
