■ Request for approval for the Lee County Library to write LSTA Accessibility <br />Technology Grant. <br />Upon vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dalrymple, Dodson, Knecht, Oldham, Reives, Sharpe, Sloan <br />Nay: None <br />The Chair ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />At 6:00 P.M. the Board conducted six public hearings for economic development incentives. <br />Economic Development Director Bob Joyce presented and discussed the first hearing for <br />"Project Seal." Mr. Joyce stated "Project Seal" consists of the purchase of machinery, equipment <br />and building renovation in the amount of $865,000 and hiring 15 new employees over the 24 - <br />month life of the project. The amount of investment requested from the Board is up to $3,750 from <br />the County's General Fund as a 5% match for a $75,000 Building Reuse Grant from the NC <br />Department of Commerce. The original public hearing for this project was held at the November <br />14, 2016 Board of Commissioners Meeting. A new public hearing was required due to a change in <br />the requested amount resulting from a change in the company's investment. <br />Chair Dalrymple opened the public hearing that had been advertised for this date and time. <br />No one present spoke in favor or in opposition to the proposed project. <br />Chair Dalrymple closed the public hearing. <br />Mr. Joyce presented and discussed the second hearing for "Project Driveline." Project <br />Driveline has been announced as GKN Automotive. Mr. Joyce stated "Project Driveline" <br />consists of the purchase of machinery, equipment and building renovation in the amount of <br />$37.2 million dollars and hiring of 66 new employees over the 5 -year life of the project. The <br />amount of investment requested from the Board is up to $512,238 of the cost of the project with <br />revenues from the County's General Fund. The original public hearing for this project was held <br />at the November 14, 2016 Board of Commissioners Meeting. A new public hearing was <br />required due to a change in the requested amount resulting from a change in the company's <br />investment. <br />Chair Dalrymple opened the public hearing that had been advertised for this date and time. <br />No one present spoke in favor or in opposition to the proposed project. <br />Chair Dalrymple closed the public hearing. <br />Mr. Joyce stated that the next four projects being presented are all located at the airport. <br />Mr. Joyce presented and discussed the third hearing for "Project Dogwood." Mr. Joyce stated <br />"Project Dogwood" consists of the construction of a facility and the purchase of equipment in <br />the amount of $6.25 million and the hiring of 147 new employees over the 5 -year life of the <br />project. The Board intends to consider investing up to $54,398 of the cost of the project with <br />revenues from the County's General Fund. The original public hearing for this project was held <br />at the December 19, 2016 Board of Commissioners Meeting. A new public hearing was <br />required in order to provide the amount of the company's investment in the advertisement. <br />Page 217 <br />
