The Chair ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Pursuant to General Statute § 152A-52.1, Chair Dalrymple opened the floor for Public <br />Comments. No one signed up to speak during the Public Comments section of the meeting. <br />At this time, Chair Dalrymple read and presented a resolution honoring retiring Director of <br />Elections, Nancy Kimble. Commissioner Oldham moved to approve said Resolution, a copy of <br />which is attached to these Minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. Upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dalrymple, Dodson, Knecht, Oldham, Reives, Sharpe, Sloan <br />Nay: None <br />The Chair ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Chair Dalrymple next read and presented a resolution honoring retiring Clerk to the Lee <br />County Board of Commissioners, Gaynell Lee. A gift was also presented by the Chair on behalf of <br />the Commissioners. Commissioner Reives moved to approve said Resolution, a copy of which is <br />attached to these Minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. Upon a vote, the results were <br />as follows: <br />Aye: Dalrymple, Dodson, Knecht, Oldham, Reives, Sharpe, Sloan <br />Nay: None <br />The Chair ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a Resolution clarifying the Board of Commissioners' voting policy. <br />County Manager John Crumpton stated the Lee County Board of Commissioners had, in the past, <br />an understood policy of voting on matters requiring a public hearing at the Commissioner meeting <br />held after the public hearing. However, the Commissioners have essentially waived that policy on <br />most matters; therefore, adopting a resolution clarifying the voting policy to allow for a vote to occur <br />after a public hearing is asked to be adopted. After discussion, Commissioner Oldham moved to <br />approve the Resolution clarifying the voting policy as written, a copy of which is attached to these <br />minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Oldham, Sharpe, Sloan <br />Nay: Dalrymple, Dodson, Knecht, Reives <br />The Chair ruled the motion had been denied by a 3 to 4 vote. <br />The Board next considered a request to approve Dr. Richard Gugelmann to assist the <br />Health Department as a volunteer pediatrician to provide child health services to the clinics. Health <br />Director Heath Cain stated Dr. Gugelmann contacted his office expressing an interest in <br />volunteering his services as a Pediatrician in our child health clinics. He further stated Dr. <br />Gugelmann has worked with the Lee County Health Department previously and has experience <br />and expertise that will further enhance services being provided through our clinic. Commissioner <br />Knecht moved to approve the request to allow Dr. Gugelmann to volunteer his services as a <br />pediatrician in the child health clinics.
