County Manager's Report — December 19, 2016 <br />Ongoing Projects <br />San Lee Park — Work continues to progress on the new nature center. Progress has <br />slowed due to the recent weather. The concrete floor has been poured and is completed. <br />Framing of the building has started. The main steel support system has been completed. <br />The County continues to work on the new sewer line. This project is still tracking towards <br />completion in May, 2017. We are also working with the contractor of the metal storage <br />building to prepare that site as well. Weather permitting the storage facility should be up <br />and dried in by January. <br />Old Bowling Alley — Due to the bid price being below $20,000 ($16,000) and having <br />funds available within the General Services budget, we awarded this contract to Wits <br />Remolding Company of Sanford. They have completed demolition and are putting new <br />walls up at this time. Work is proceeding and we should be completed in 60 to 90 days. <br />The State will need to review the work before any moving can take place. <br />OT Sloan Pool — Per the request at our last meeting in November, we are reviewing <br />options to enclose the lap pool during in the non -summer months. We are targeting the <br />Commissioners Board Retreat to give a full report on a capital plan for the pool. <br />Colon Road Water — We are developing an RFQ to seek proposals from engineering <br />firms to design the water system in the Colon Road area. We will release the RFQ after <br />the first of the year. In the meantime, The Willing Hands group has purchased water <br />filters and begun installation of them. This project should be completed in the next couple <br />of weeks. The filters will be a good <br />Other Items <br />Hurricane Matthew Update — The Deadline for apply to FEMA for disaster assistance <br />was extended 30 days to January 9th. FEMA is highly recommending that citizens apply <br />on line. Citizens can still apply in person in Johnston or Cumberland Counties. These <br />two sites are the closest FEMA temporary offices which remain open. <br />Board Retreat — The Board needs to agree on a date for the annual Board Retreat. <br />Typically, the meeting starts on Thursday night and then ends mid-day on Friday. The <br />date discussed with the Chair and staff is January 26 and 27. <br />
