LEE COUNTY <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />OF THE <br />LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />106 HILLCREST DRIVE <br />SANFORD, NORTH CAROLINA 27330 <br />NOVEMBER 14, 2016 <br />The special meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State of North <br />Carolina, convened at 6 p.m. in the Commissioners' Room, First Floor, Lee County Government <br />Center, 106 Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, North Carolina, on said date. Commissioners present when the <br />meeting was called to order were Amy M. Dalrymple, Dr. Ricky D. Frazier, Larry "Doc" Oldham, Robert <br />T. Reives, Timothy S. Sloan, and Kirk D. Smith. Commissioner Dr. Andre Knecht arrived later in the <br />meeting. <br />Chair Dalrymple called the meeting to order. <br />Commissioner Oldham delivered the invocation. <br />The pledge of allegiance was recited. <br />The Board conducted a public hearing to consider participation in the cost of an economic <br />development request for "Project Driveline". Economic Development Director Bob Joyce stated <br />"Project Driveline" consisted of the purchase of machinery and equipment in the amount of $36 million <br />and the hiring of 66 new employees over the 5 -year life of the project. If approved, the County will <br />invest up to $432,878 of the cost of the project with revenues from the County's general fund. Mr. <br />Joyce stated the Executive Board of the Sanford Area Growth Alliance (SAGA) had approved this <br />request. <br />Commissioner Knecht arrived during the presentation at 6:08 p.m. <br />Commissioner Reives asked that in the future minutes and votes from the SAGA Executive <br />Board be provided for economic development incentive requests. <br />Chair Dalrymple opened the public hearing that had been advertised for this date and time. <br />The following spoke in favor of the economic development request: <br />• Keith Clark, 212 Acorn Drive, Sanford <br />No one present spoke in opposition to the request. <br />Chair Dalrymple closed the public hearing. <br />
