County Manager's Report — October 17, 2016
Onaoina Projects
San Lee Park — Work is progressing on the new nature center. The recent rains have
not damaged the site work and the contractor continues to prepare the site for footings
and drainage. The County is working on the new sewer line. We are also working with
the contractor of the metal storage building to prepare that site as well. We anticipate
having the steel for that building in November. Weather permitting the storage facility
should be up and dried in by January.
Old Bowling Alley — General Services held their pre-bid meeting the week of October
10th. Bids will be due by the end of the month. Construction is estimated to take 60-90
days once the bid is awarded.
Hwy 42 Manned Convenience Center — The work to repave and do other improvements
at this manned convenience center came in over budget. Staff is working with our
engineer to reduce cost with the low bidder. If negotiations are successful, this item will
be on the November 7th meeting agenda.
CCCC Projects — Attached please find the most recent update from the architect on the
bond projects. We are moving toward having four projects under construction by
February. In addition, we are moving toward selling the bonds through the Local
Government Commission the first week of February.
Other Items
Hurricane Matthew Update — At the meeting I plan on providing the Board with an update
on the recovering from the damage caused by Hurricane Matthew. Please check your
email between receipt of the agenda packet and the meeting for updates.
OT Sloan Pool — The Manager's office has hired Mark Voigt of ADI Pool and SPA to
develop a long term plan for the pool. In the meantime, the County has converted to pool
permit to a year-round permit allowing the pool to remain open 12 months out of the year.
The painting project has been put on hold as we go through the planning process for a
long term solution for the pool. If a plan that is affordable is developed for the pool, the
painting funds can be used to help with the long term solution. Lastly, the water
temperature is dropping quickly. ADI is going to provide an immediate option to heat the
pool. I hope to have this proposal available at the meeting.
