BK -00028 PG -.0426 <br />Commissioner Oldham moved to approve the Consent Agenda which consisted of the following items: <br />• Minutes from the August 15, 2016 regular meeting, <br />• Minutes from the August 29, 2016 special called meeting, <br />• Tax Releases and Refunds for August 2016 (copy attached), <br />• Purchase of two new vehicles for the Tax Office, <br />• Purchase of one new vehicle for Emergency Services, <br />• Purchase of mobile shelving for the Detective Division in the Sheriff's Office, <br />• Purchase of stainless steel showers for the Jail, <br />• Purchase of one new vehicle for Parks & Recreation, <br />• FY 2017 Seniors Health Insurance Information (SHIIP) Grant, <br />• Application to Wal-Mart for a Community Grant for the Health Department, and <br />• Application for Title X and Women's Health Service Funding for the Health <br />Department. <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dalrymple, Frazier, Knecht, Oldham, Reives, Sloan, and Smith <br />Nay: None <br />The Chair ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Pursuant to N. C. General Statute §153A-52.1, Chair Dalrymple opened the floor for Public <br />Comments. The following signed up to speak and were allowed 3 minutes for comments: <br />1. Terica Luxton, 3616 Lee Avenue, Sanford (Coal Ash/Colon Water) <br />8. Melissa Lima, 160 Christian Chapel Church Road, Chapel Hill, (Sanford Swim <br />Team) <br />9. Kristan Hickman, 303 W. Harrington Avenue, Broadway (Sanford Swim Team) <br />County Manager John Crumpton presented an update on the Colon/Osgood water situation. As <br />addressed during the August 29th special called meeting of the Board, EnvironmentaLEE and Blue <br />Ridge Environmental stated they could not administer the water filter grant program for the <br />Colon/Osgood area. At the special meeting, staff was directed to find a new non-profit to administer the <br />program. Mr. Crumpton stated he had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Willing Hands Inc. <br />to accept the funds donated to the County. To date, nine (9) filters have been installed and ten (10) <br />remaining residents have stated they would like a filter. One resident has plans to connect to the City <br />water system and does not want a filter. Commissioner Oldham moved to accept the Agreement <br />between the County and Willing Hands, Inc., a copy of which is attached to these Minutes and by this <br />reference made a part hereof.
