CrI <br />LEE COUNTY <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ITEM ABSTRACT ITEM NO: I. <br />XX Information <br />_ Action Item <br />Meeting Date: June 20, 2016 _ Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: <br />Lee County "Young Commissioner" Youth Leadership Program <br />DEPARTMENT: <br />NC Cooperative Extension <br />CONTACT PERSON: <br />Bill Stone, County Extension Director <br />REQUEST: <br />Presentation of "Young Commissioners" <br />SUMMARY: <br />This fourth summer session of the Lee County "Young <br />Commissioner" program consists of an intensive two-week youth <br />program comprised of twelve rising 9th -11th graders. The program <br />kicked off last Monday, June 13th and will run through Thursday, <br />June 23rd. During this two-week period, participants will gain <br />valuable leadership and citizenship skills through hands-on <br />workshops and training while also developing a greater <br />understanding of local government and relevant issues facing their <br />community.
