BK -00028 PG -0242 The following spoke in favor of the rezoning request: Mr. Charles Brown, 304 Country Estates (owner of said property). Stated the request was for a financial reason. No one present spoke in opposition to the rezoning request. Chair Dalrymple closed the public hearing. At this time members of the Lee County Planning Board and staff retired to the Gordon Wicker Conference Room for further deliberation. Recommendations from these hearings will be presented to Commissioners for consideration at their June 6th meeting. The fourth public hearing advertised was for the proposed FY 2016-17 Budget. County Manager John Crumpton outlined his proposed budget presented at the previous meeting. Chair Dalrymple opened the public hearing that had been advertised for this date and time. The following spoke in favor of the proposed FY 2016-17 Budget: 1. Dr. Andy Bryan, 1508 Winterlocken Drive, Sanford, Superintendent of the Lee County Schools. Dr. Bryan thanked Commissioners for their funding last year and what the County Manager was recommending for the upcoming current budget. No one present spoke in opposition to the proposed Budget. Economic Development Director Bob Joyce, 2003 Vantage Point, Sanford, stated he wished to make a comment — neither for against the budget — but on behalf of SAGA's request for additional funding. Gave some updates on economic development projects over the past couple of years and addressed the need for resources in marketing. Mr. Charles Welborn, 523 Chris Cole Road, Sanford, also spoke on behalf of SAGA's budget request that the County Manager did not recommend. His request was for Commissioners to fund SAGA at the increased level requested. Chair Dalrymple closed the public hearing. At this time Chair Dalrymple called for a 10 -minute recess. Upon returning from recess, with all members present, the regular meeting resumed. The Board discussed added security for Board of Commissioner meetings. Commissioner Reives asked that the Board look into having a metal detector placed outside the Commissioners' Board Room. After discussion, the County Manager was asked to get a price for a metal detector and installation as discussed. Chair Dalrymple stated since the metal detectors are large and take up space maybe the meetings could be moved to Courtroom #4 at the old Lee County Courthouse where units are already in place. No action was taken. Finance Director Lisa Minter presented Budget Amendment # 05/16/16/18 for the following departments: Sheriff — appropriate $3,226 from Insurance Refunds revenue to cover vehicle maintenance. 4
