BK -00028 PG:0216 STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA) EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT COUNTY OF LEE ) THIS EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT (the Agreement), made and entered into this the a I s+ day of April, 2016, by and between the COUNTY OF LEE, one of the counties of the State of North Carolina, and a body both politic and corporate, hereinafter referred to as "County," the party of the first part, and Whitney P. Parrish hereinafter referred to as "Attorney," party of the second part, both of whom understand as follows: WITNESSETH: WHEREAS, the County desires to employ the services of Whitney P. Parrish in the County Attorney's Office of the County of Lee: and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Board of Commissioners to establish certain conditions of employment, and to set working conditions of said employee; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Board of Commissioners to (1) retain the services of Attorney and to provide inducement for her to remain in such employment, (2) to make possible full work productivity by assuring Attorney's morale and peace of mind with respect to future security, and (3) to provide a just means for terminating Attorney's services at such time as she may be unable to discharge her duties due to disability or when the County may desire to otherwise terminate her employment; and WHEREAS, the Attorney desires to accept the responsibilities of County Attorney of said County. NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual covenants herein contained, the parties hereto agree as follows: Section 1. DUTIES The County hereby agrees to employ Whitney P. Parrish in the Lee County Attorneys Office of said County to perform the functions and duties of County Attorney. She will perform the functions and duties heretofore and hereafter adopted by said County, and to perform other legally permissible and proper duties and functions as the Board of Commissioners of said County shall from time to time assign to her.
