032 <br />• Commissioner Oldham stated he would like to see funding for non profits disbursed by <br />"need" first with no guarantees that there will be money budgeted for them next year. <br />Chairman Hayes stated he was glad to hear there was extra money available at this <br />time to assist some of the non profit agencies but would like them to be made aware that <br />money might not be available in the future. He would like them to begin their own fund raising <br />endeavors to fund their organizations. ,I, <br />After further discussion, it was agreed that the Boys and Girlsil0lub would receive <br />$20,000 in funding, $10,000 to Lee County Industries, $12,000 to thell 4emple Theater, $5,000 <br />to Helping Hand Clinic, and $10,000 to HAVEN. Chairman Hayessimovetl~lthat the County <br />Manager add the above amounts to the FY 2010-11 budget with a final vote to be {taken at the <br />June 7, 2010 meeting. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: 11(Ei1 1, <br />dill Aye: Dalrymple, Hayes, Kelly, Oldham, ~Pas~chal,'and Shook <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Reives <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />, 1i <br />School Superintendent Jeff Moss was.present and answelred questions from the Board. <br />ut,y_ •NiiR"1,=, <br />• County Manager John Crumpton dis~cussetliaii 0 COLA for County employees. Mr. <br />Crumpton stated that $150,000, or 1% is ali'eadyIin tli4el udget for a possible COLA but the <br />Board will need to add an additional $150,OOOit'olfund the entire 2% request. It was stated that <br />the additional money could be taken from capital reserve or departments could be asked for <br />cuts totaling $150,000. Commissioner Oldharriec. ended that staff be given a 1% COLA <br />this year and maybe a 2o~rCOLA next year. Commissioner's Dalrymple and Shook stated they <br />would like to see employees receive the full 2% COLA this year. A one-time 2% bonus for <br />employees this year was alsol,di`scussed~.ilrAfter further discussion, Chairman Hayes moved to <br />give County staff a onAimei'2% bonus during the month of October. Upon a vote, the results <br />were as follows: <br />Dalrymple; Hayes, Kelly, Oldham, Paschal, and Shook <br />None <br />Reives <br />the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Dalrymple discussed the Animal Control budget. It was noted that <br />several Commissioners have received animal control calls and the question was asked why a <br />funded Animal Control Officer position had never been filled. Commissioner Oldham <br />discussed the sub-committee that is currently working on a new Animal Control Ordinance. <br />After some discussion, it was agreed that Health Director Howard Surface should appear <br />• before the Board of Commissioners at their June 21st meeting to address the above <br />referenced matters. <br />2 <br />
