Harmon, County Farm Agent, made a-monthly and yearly report <br /> of the official activities of his office. <br /> • <br /> • Miss Monica Brown, County Home Demonstration Agent, made monthly <br /> and yearly report of the activities of her,office. <br /> Mrs. Clifford E. Tracy, Superintendent of Public Welfare, presented <br /> the monthly report of the activities of the County Welfare Department. <br /> Mrs. Victor Stone appeared before the Board to as$ that the ;road , <br /> leading from the highway to her home be pulled up and that the overhanging <br /> branches be removed. On motion of Commissioner Cheshire, seconded by <br /> Commissioner Winstead, the Chairman of the Board was instructed to contact <br /> the State Highway and Public Works Commission and ask that the work be <br /> performed immediately. - <br /> On motion of Commissioner Winstead, seconded by Commissioner <br /> Cheshire, the County Attorney was instructed to contact the State Highway <br /> and Public Works Commission and request that gravel be placed on the <br /> Osgood Road at the point where the Deep River School bus turns around at the <br /> entrance to the A, K. Hunt farm. <br /> Commissioner Cheshire offered the following resolution and moved its <br /> adoption, which motion was seconded by Commissioner Kelly, to-wit: <br /> Be it resolved that William W. Staton, County Attorney, be and he is <br /> hereby designated Ex Officio Clerk of the Lee County Board-of Commissioners <br /> under authority granted by the provisions of Section 153-40 of the General <br /> Statutes of North Carolina. <br /> The foregoing resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> A road petition submitted by S. J. Judd requesting the improvement <br /> of a road leading from the Eo rdway Road to Buckhorn Road was, upon - • <br /> motion of Commissioner Kelly', seconded by Commissioner Atkins, unanimously <br /> '-adopted.and the Attorney was instructed for forward the same to the State <br /> Highway and public -Works Commissio::. - • <br /> On motion of Commissioner. Winstead, seconded by Commissioner <br /> Cheshire, Dr. J. H. Byerly was unanimously-reappointed County Doctor. <br /> Minutes of the regular meeting of November 5, -1956, minutes 6 the <br /> Adjourned Regular Meeting of November 15, 1956 and minutes of the • <br /> Adjourned Regular Meeting of November 26, 1956, were read and.approved. <br /> H. R. Kennedy, an attorney and member of the Lee County Bar <br /> Association, appeared before the Board to request that it authorize the <br /> installation of a telephone in the vault-of the office of the Register of-Deeds. <br /> Upon motion of Commissioner Kelly, seconded by Commissioner Atkins, <br /> this question-was-left to the discretion of the Chairman of the'Board. <br /> Mrs. Louise Dowdy presented a report of the activitiesof the County <br /> Health Department for the past month. <br /> Commissioner Atkins moved that the office of the•Supervisor of-the - <br /> County Mapping Department be 'combined with the office of the Tax Supervisor <br /> and that:Paul Lucas be reappointed Tax S:pervisor. , This motion was seconded <br /> by Commissioner Kelly: ' The motion was adopted by a vote-of- 3 to 2,, <br /> Commissioners-Atkins, Kelly aid-Measamer;voting in the affirmative and <br />
