B; ,Teague was declared duly elected. <br /> Upon motion of Commissioner Kelly, which motion was seconded by <br /> Commissioner Winstead, Mr. and Mrs. Selby Campbell were re--elected as <br /> Superintendent of the County Home. <br /> Commissioner Measamer offered his resignation as a member of the <br /> Lee County Fire Commission because of his election as Chairman of the <br /> Board. - <br /> On motion of Commissioner-Kelly, seconded by Commissioner Winstead, <br /> said resignation was unanimously accepted. - - <br /> On motion of Commissioner Cheshire, seconded by Commissioner <br /> Winstead, Commissioner Atkins was appointed-to fill the unexpired term of <br /> Commissioner Measamer on the Lee County Fire Commission. _ <br /> • <br /> Commissioner Cheshire moved that Paul Lucas be reappointed Tax <br /> • Supervisor and that W. L. Bishop be reappointed as head of the County <br /> • Mapping Department, This motion was seconded by Commissioner Winstead. <br /> There followed a discussion of the duties and responsibilities of the office of <br /> County Tax Supervisor and Supervisor of the County Mapping Department. <br /> - Commissioner Kelly then moved that the motion of Commissioner Cheshire <br /> be tabled: This motion was seconded by Commissioner Atkins and the same <br /> was adopted by majority vote. <br /> Willie O. Johnston appeared before the Board to ask for a rebate on <br /> 1956 tax paid on his home at 645 Gulf Street for that the valuation was too <br /> high: No action-was taken on his request but the County Tax Supervisor was <br /> instructed to study the question and report back to the Board. • <br /> • W. D. Gregson, Veterans Service Officer, submitted a monthly report <br /> of his official activities and the affairs of-his• office. <br /> • <br /> -E. M. Underwood, Clerk of the,Superior Court, appeared before the <br /> Board and presented the Bonds of STamey" W. Measamer, as Constable of <br /> .Cape Fear Township, Garland E. Sionc as constable of East Sanford Township <br /> and T. Britton Kelly as Constable of Jonesboro Township.
