Campbell, Tax Collector, reported upon the collections made by <br /> his office during the month of March, 1957. <br /> The County Attorney discussedxgc the details of the special local tax <br /> election to be held in Lee County thellth day of May, 1957, for the purpose of <br /> determining whether or not there should be levied and collected a special tax <br /> not to exceed 30 on the $100. 00 valuation for the purpose of supplementing <br /> the current expense fund for the Lee County SchoolsAdministrative Unit. <br /> After full discussion of the details of this special local tax election, <br /> Commissioner Kelly moved the adoption of the following resolution, to-wit: <br /> WHEREAS, this Board has heretofore adopted a resolution calling for a <br /> special election to be held in the Lee County SchoolsAdministrative Unit on <br /> Saturday, the llth day of May, 1957, for the purpose of ascertaining the will <br /> of the voters within said area as to whether or not there shall be levied and <br /> collected annually, within said Lee County SchoolsAdministrative Unit, a <br /> special tax not to exceed 34 on the $100. 00 valuation of all taxable properties, <br /> both real and personal, for the purpose of supplementing the current expense <br /> funds and thereby operate schools on a higher standard by supplementing any <br /> item of expenditure in the current expense school budget; <br /> AND WHEREAS, it is the duty of this Board, under the provisions of <br /> Article. 14, Sub-chapter 5 of Chapter 115 of the General Statutes of North <br /> Carolina, to provide for the calling of said election and the details thereof, <br /> and to give notice of such publication as by law provided; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Clerk of the Lee County Board <br /> of Commissioners is hereby authorized and directed to give notice of such <br /> special election by publication at least three times in the Sanford Herald and <br /> the Central Carolinian, which papers have general circulation within the Lee <br /> County SchoolsAdministrative Unit, which said notice shall set forth the boundary <br /> line of the school unit, the maximum rate of tax proposed to be levied and the <br /> purpose of said tax, the 1st publication of said notice to be at least thirty days <br /> before the date fixed for the election, which said notice shall be substantially <br /> in the following form: <br /> (See attached paper) <br /> The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was seconded by <br /> Commissioner Atkins, and skid resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote <br /> of the Board. <br /> On motion of Commissioner Atkins, which motion was seconded by <br /> Commissioner Kelly, bills and statements presented for payment were <br /> approved and the same were ordered paid. <br /> • re r-Court <br /> w iawn ds t o <br /> Jugs-f _ lotay 13, 7 term -CiVl"1 ourt of e-P.ount — <br /> /i s 1o144Ws:. <br /> There being no further business to come before the Board upon motion <br /> duly made and seconded, the meeting was adjourned. <br /> Chairman <br /> Clerk <br />
