SPECIAL ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE BOARD <br /> OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF LEE COUNTY <br /> May 13, 1957 <br /> The Board of Commissioners of Lee County met in Special Adjourned <br /> session in the Tax Supervisor4s office at the courthouse on Monday night, May <br /> 13, 1957 at 7:30 o'clock P. M., pursuant to notice of adjournment at the <br /> regular monthly meeting of May 6, 1957. The following members of the <br /> Board were present for dispatch of business. <br /> Commissioners Percy Measamer, Sion H. Kelly and Clyde J. Atkins. <br /> Chairman Percy Measamer presided and the following business was <br /> transacted: <br /> The registrars and judges of election for a special election called by tle <br /> Lee County Board of Commissioners and held on May 11, 1957 in all of the <br /> territory lying within the boundaries of Lee County not includedzin the Sanford <br /> City Schools Administrative Unit, the same being and constituting the <br /> boundaries of the Lee County School Administrative Unit, for the purpose of <br /> •submitting to the qualified voters in said area the question as to whether or <br /> not there should be levied and collected annually within said area a special <br /> tax not to exceed 30 cents on the $100. 00 valuation of all taxable properties <br /> both real and personal within said area, for the purpose of supplementing the <br /> current expense funds from the State and County Allotments and thereby <br /> operate schools on a higher standard by supplementing any item of expenditure <br /> in the current expense school budget, said election being held and conducted <br /> under the provisions of Article 14, Sub-chapter 5 of Chapter 115 of the <br /> General Statutes of North Carolina;, and said returns were duly canvassed <br /> and determined. <br /> Commissioner Atkins then introduced the following resolution and moved <br /> its adoption, to-wit: <br /> "Be it hereby resolved that we, the undersigned, members of the Board <br /> of Commissioners of Lee County, constituting the Board of Canvassers and <br /> acting under and pursuant to the Provisions of Article 14, Sub-Chapter 5, <br /> Chapter 115 of the General Statutes of North Carolina, do hereby certify <br /> under our hands and seals that we met in the courthouse in Sanford, North <br /> Carolina at 7:30 o'clock P.
