The Board <br /> ordered this letter to be filed with Miss Una Gregson, County Auditor. <br /> Minutes of the Regular meeting of June 3, 1957jawsail minutes of the Special <br /> Called,Meeting of June 10. 1957 and minutes of the Special Adjourned Meeting <br /> of June 19, 1957 were read and approved. <br /> Garland Stone, Constable from East Sanford Township, appeared before <br /> the Board to request that he Is and Constable Stamey W. Measamer be 'granted <br /> a monthly salary for their services rendered as Constable. There then <br /> followed a detailed discussion of the duties and responsibilities of constables <br /> in Lee County. No formal action was taken on tle request of Constable Stone. <br /> D. F. Holder, Sheriff, presented monthly report of the activities of the <br /> Sheriff's department. <br /> .r.+yMio. <br /> At the afternoon session, Chairman'Fercy Measamer was present and <br /> presided. The folbwing business wa's'transacted; <br /> Mrs. Edith Park, Acting Supt. of Public Welfare, presented monthly <br /> report of the Welfare Department. Mrs. Park also discussed withthe Board <br /> the case of Billy E. Wicker and his wife and asked the Board for its advice <br /> in the handling of the case. <br /> There followed a discussion of certain charges concerning the affairs of <br /> the County, which charges were made by Constable Garland Stone. After <br /> full discussion of these matters, Commissioner Atkins moved that the Chairman <br /> of the Board be authorized to issue subpoena for Garland Stone to compel his <br /> attendance before the Board to be examined under oath relating to the affairs <br /> of the County. This motion was seconded by Commissioner Kelly. The vote <br /> on said motion was as follows: <br /> Atkins - aye <br /> Kelly - aye <br /> Winstead- passed <br /> Cheshire- passed <br /> Measamer - aye <br /> The Chairman thereupon declared the motion carried and the County <br /> Attorney was instructed to prepare the subpoena. <br /> I.
