0 0 <br /> E. P. Clark, Custodian of the Courthouse, reported upon the condition of <br /> all buildings' owned by the County. <br /> W. L. Simmons appeared before the Board and requested that an error in <br /> listing property tax of B & S Department Store for 1957 be corrected. After <br /> inquiring into the matter, Commissioner Cheshire moved that the County Tax <br /> Records for the year 1957 be corrected to show personal property valuation of <br /> B & S Department Store of $5, 342. 50 instead of $10, 685. 00 as evidenced by the <br /> records. This motion was seconded by Commissioner Winstead and the same was <br /> unanimously adopted, and the Clerk was instructed to advise the Tax Collector <br /> of this action. <br /> The Board then discussed the question of the tax assessed against the <br /> property of the Broadway Lions; Club and the Sanford Moose Lodge. After full <br /> discussion of the matter, Commissioner Winstead moved that the Lee County Tax <br /> 7/1 <br /> Collector be relieved of the 1957 tax in the amount of $9. 92 assessed against <br /> the property of the Broadway Lions Club. This, motion was seconded by <br /> Commissioner Kelly and the same was unanimously adopted. <br /> Commissioner Winstead then moved that the Lee County Tax Collector and/ <br /> or the Lee County Auditor be relieved of tax assessed against the property of <br /> the Sanford Moose Lodge listed in the name of Tommy Riddle and Grafton Pierce <br /> in the year 1955 in the amount of $139. 58 and for the year 1956 in the amount of <br /> $184. 88. This motion was seconded by Commissioner Kelly and the same was <br /> adopted by unanimous vote of the Board. <br /> The Chariman advised the Board that Mrs. Matthews, representative of the <br /> Social Security Agency, had advised him that unless the County could furnish office <br /> space for her work it would be necessary for her to carry on the work for this <br /> county from office facilities in another county. The Chairman pointed out that <br /> a great many citizens of our county were affected by the work of the Social Security <br /> Agency and that it would be of vital importance that the agency be furnished <br /> sufficient and proper office space to carry on its work. commissioner Winstead <br /> then moved that the Chairman be authorized to locate a office in the Courthouse <br /> for the Social Security Agency-and to rent office space in Max's 5, 10 and 25 Cent <br /> Store building for the Lee County Veteran's Service Officer at a rental of $35. 00 <br />
