• <br /> WHEREAS, the Sanford City School Board has under consideration a <br /> proposal to apply for aid from funds allotted to establish Industrial Education <br /> Centers in the State of North Carolina; and whereas, in consideration of <br /> the approval of its request for funds, it becomes necessary for the Sanford <br /> City School Board to submit an application to the State Department of Public <br /> Instructions and in said application to agree to provide suitable buildings, <br /> including both shop and classroom space, to meet the standards prescribed <br /> therefor by the State Board of Education; and whereas, it has been <br /> determined by a survey recently conducted in Sanford and vicinity that there <br /> is a needfor Industrial Education Training, particulary as concerns power <br /> sewing, electronics, furniture manufacturing, machinist work and auto <br /> mechanics; and whereas, it is proposed that three or more Industrial <br /> Education Centers are to be established in the State of North Carolina and <br /> that said centers will be established in those localities which shall furnish <br /> and erect proper shop and classroom facilities; and whereas, it is the desire <br /> of the Board of Commissioners of Lee County to authorize the Sanford City <br /> Board of Education to submit said application with the understanding that if <br /> said Industrial Education Center is approved for Sanford that the said Board <br /> of Commissioners of Lee County will provide or will make every reasonable <br /> effort to provide funds necessary for the erection of said building; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Commissioners of <br /> Lee County that the Sanford City Board of Education be authorized to submit <br /> said application FOR AID TO ESTABLISH AN INDUSTRIAL EDUCATION <br /> CENTER in the City of Sanford and to state'rherein that it will be provided <br /> suitable buildings, including both shop and classroom space, to meet the <br /> standards prescribed therefor by the State Board of Education, and said <br /> Board of Commissioners of Lee County hereby agree to provide the funds for <br /> the erection of such building or to make every reasonable effort to fulfill its <br /> moral and legal obligation to provide said funds. <br />
