• <br /> • <br /> operation of said Superior Court for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1958, <br /> by reason of the congested docket, the increased court work, and particularly <br /> by reason of the high cost of conducting the trial of State -vs- Frank Edward <br /> Wetzel for the murder of Patrolman James T. Brown, the cost to the county <br /> of said trial being in excess of $12, 159. 38; and whereas, if now becomes <br /> necessary and-the duty of this- Board to adopt a supplemental appropriation <br /> resolution to provide funds for the operation of said Superior Court in <br /> accordance with law, the same being a necessary County expense; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, that for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1958, there <br /> is hereby appropriated out of the County General Fund Surplus the sum of <br /> $18, 000. 00 for the operation of the Superior Court of Lee County, and the same <br /> shall be in addition to the funds heretofore appropriated for the operations of <br /> said Court. The motion for the adoption of said resolution was seconded by <br /> Commissioner Atkins and the vote on the same was as follows; <br /> Winstead - aye <br /> Cheshire - aye <br /> Atkins - aye <br /> Measamer - aye <br /> It was then brought to the attention of the Board by the Chairman that Mr. <br /> Denwood Womack, who formerly resided in Lee County, had moved to Norfolk, <br /> Virginia, prior to January 1, 1956 and that through error his personal property <br /> listing for the year 1956 was carried forward by the County Tax Supervisor; <br /> it further appearing to the Board that the said Denwood Womack had listed and <br /> paid tax on a 1954 28 foot General House Trailer in the City of Norfolk, State <br /> of Virginia and that he had paid his personal property tax bill to the County <br /> of Lee for 1956 in the amount of $33. 00, paying the same under protest; and <br /> it further appearing to the Board that the said tax listing for Denwood Womack <br /> for the year 1956 was erroneous and that the said sam of $33. 00 paid by him <br /> under protest should be refunded; it was thereuponm upon motion duly made <br /> and seconded, unanimously resolved that the County Auditor be authorized and <br /> instructed to refund to Denwood Womack of 4407 m,,.e_t Ave. , Norfolk, <br /> Virginia, the sum of $33. 00 which he had paid to said County for tax <br /> erroneously assessed against him for the year 1956. <br />
