' • On motion of Commissioner Atkins, which motion was seconded by Commissioner Winstead, a road petition presented by B. N. Yarborough requesting that a road in Cape Fear Township known as the Quarter Road be paved, was unanimously approved. ' • On motion of Commissioner Atkins, which motion was seconded by Commissioner Kelly, . ,ae road-petition requested, that Charlotte Avenue Extension be paved, was unanimously 4proved. W. H. Campbell, Tax Collector, presented report of the Tax Collector's Office for the preceding month, Commissioner Winstead moved that the prop erty purchased by The Shotwell Council No. 148 of the Junior Order, which property was purchased from William L. Dollar, be relieved from taxation as of March 1, 1958, with the provision that the said William L. Dollar pay two-twelfths of the tax assessed against said property for the year 1958. This motion was seconded by Commissioner Cheshire and the same was adopted by the unanimous vote of the Board. The Chairman then announced that he had been appointed as a member of the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners Legislative Committee and that this Committee would discuss on Friday at Chapel Hill • <t proposal by the North Carolina;-Association of County Commissioners that the State appropriate additional funds for local health services. On motion of Commissioner Atkins, which motion was seconded by Commissioner Kelly, the Board unanimously authorized the Chairman to support the proposal of the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners that the State appropriate additional funds for local health services. (X E. P. Clark, Custodian of the Courthouse, reported upon the condition of all buildings owned by the County. Dr. i R. Carter, Jr., County Health Officer, presented the monthly report of the'Lee County Health Department. Mrs. Laura Rosser, Acting Supt. of Public Welfare, presented monthly report of the activities•of the County Welfare Department.
