t • Dr. N. R. Carter, County Health Officer, presented a monthly report of the County Health Department and the County Sanitarian. E. P. Clark, Custodian of the Courthouse, reported upon the condition of all buildings owned by the County. Mrs. Laura Rosser, Acting Supt. of Public Welfare, presented monthly report of the activities of the County Welfare Department. James Brandy, President of the Greenwood Rural Fire Department, appeared before the Board with a delegation and requested his Department be approved and granted financial assistance by the County. After prolonged discussion of the various problemens reported, Commissioner Winstead moved that the Greenwood Fire Department be recognized and that the Greenwood Fire District be approved. This motion died from want of a second. Upon motion of Commissioner Kelly, which motion was seconded by Commissioner Cheshire, the sound valuation:of a house os'ned by James R. Roberts in Greenwood Township was reduced from $14, 000: 00 to $10, 000. 00. On motion of Commissioner Kelly, which motion was seconded by •Commissioner Cheshire, .the sound,value of- a house owned by-Robert Pierce located in Greenwood Township was reduced from $7, 600. 00 to $6, 000. 00. Casper Roberts, one of the partners of Roberts Insurance Service came before the Board and requested that his agency be approved for participating in the County Fire Insurance program. On motion of Commissioner Cheshire which motion was seconded by Commissioner Winstead, the Board unanimously authorized the approval of Roberts Insurance Service for participation in the writing of fire insurance policies for the various buildings owned by the County, and the Clerk to the Board was authorized to advise Mr. D. F. Harris, the agent in t charge of the County Fire Insurance Program. Mr. L. L. Beckham, Director of Civil Defense, reported upon the activities of his office for the month of June, 1958. On Motion of Commissioner Atkins, which motion was seconded by Commissioner -Kelly the Board unanimously resolved to adxxix adjourn its meeting until Thursday, July 17, 1958, at 8;00 o'clock P. M. at which time said Board would adopt an appropriations resolution and levy necessary taxes
