• <br /> • <br /> Mr. Dallas Mackey, Supervisor of the Sanford Tobacco Market requested <br /> that the Board grant financial assistance in the promotion of the Sanford <br /> Tobacco Market. After full discussion of the aims and accomplishments of <br /> the Sanford Tobacco Market program, Commissioner Measamer moved that <br /> the sum of $100. 00 be appropriated and paid into the advertisement fund of the <br /> Sanford Tobacco Market. Commissioner Groce seconded this motion and the <br /> same was adopted by the unanimous vote of the Board. <br /> W. D. Gregson, Veteran Service Officer, presented monthly report of <br /> the activities of his office. <br /> On motion of Commissioner Winstead, which motion was seconded by <br /> Commissioner Measamer, the Bonds of the following officers were unanimously <br /> approved for the amounts shown by their respective names, to-wit: <br /> NAME OFFICE AMOUNT OF BOND <br /> Charles A. Apple Constable - West Sanford Township 500. 00 <br /> On motion of Commissioner Winstead, which motion was seconded by <br /> Commissioner Measamer, the County Attorney was authorized and directed to <br /> sell the two cars which had been seized and were being held by the Lee County <br /> Sheriff's Department. <br /> The Board then requested the County Attorney to advise with the newly <br /> elected Solicitor of the Fourth Solicitorial District andthtermine whether it <br /> would be possible to sell the 1955 Pink and Black Ford automobile conveyed <br /> by Clarence Pugh to the County. <br /> The Chairman then read a letter from Mrs. J. O. Taylor, Secretary of <br /> the Lee County Library Board of Trustees, advising that the Board was <br /> recommending the appointment of Mrs. Doris Betts to fill the unexpired term <br /> of Mrs. A. M. Harrington on said Lee County Library Board of Trustees. <br /> On motion of Commissioner Measamer, which motion was seconded by <br /> Commissioner Atkins, the nomination of Mrs. Doris Betts as a member of the <br /> Lee County Library Board of Trustees to fill the unexpired term of Mrs. <br /> A. M. Harrington was unanimously approved. <br /> Mrs. Laura Rosser, Supt. of Welfare, presented the monthly report of <br /> the Welfare Department. Mrs. Rosser then pointed out to the Board that <br /> an addition' al case worker was needed as the work of the Welfare Department <br /> had greatly increased. Commissioner Measamer then moved that another <br /> case worker be employed by the Welfare Department with the understanding <br /> and agreement that if a child Welfare Case worker could not be employed, <br /> this position would be terminated. This motion was seconded by Commissioner <br /> Atkins and the same was adopted by the unanimous vote of the Board. <br />
