Clark, Custodian of the courthouse, reported upon the condition <br /> of all buildings owned by the county. <br /> On motion of Commissioner Winstead, which motion was seconded by <br /> Commissioner Measamer, J. Allen Harrington, Solicitor of the Lee County <br /> Criminal Court, was appointed Assistant District Solicitor at the salary <br /> heretofore paid the Assistant District Solicitor. <br /> Mrs. Laura B. Rosser, Supt. of Public Welfare, submitted monthly <br /> report of the activities of the Lee County Welfare Department. <br /> The monthly report of Miss Monica Brown, Home Demonstration Agent, <br /> was received by the Board. <br /> The monthly report of W. H. Campbell, County Tax Collector, was <br /> received by the Board. <br /> • <br /> Mr. Measamer moved that the County Attorney be instructed to advise Mr. <br /> Lacy Oldham and Mr. A. A. Smith, Agent, that bids would be received until <br /> 2:30 P. M. On February 2, 1959, said bids to be opened at 3:00 o'clock P. M. <br /> on the Lawrence Davis lands in East Sanford Township andthat said lands be <br /> sold to the highest bidder. This motion was seconded by Commissioner Atkins <br /> and the same was unanimously adopted. <br /> Commissioner Measamer then moved that the Tax Collector be relieved of <br /> 1958 tax on the house listed in the name of Sara McDougald, Jonesboro <br /> Township, said relief to be granted as of February 1, 1958, as said house <br /> was completely destroyed by fire on February 4, 1958 and the same was not <br /> rebuilt. <br /> This motion was seconded by Commissioner Groce and the same was • <br /> unanimously adopted. <br /> • <br /> �4 John C. Muse of the Auditing firm of John C. Muse and Company, presented <br /> audit of the Office of the Clerk of Superior Court for the period November 1, <br /> 1957 to October 31, 1958. The audit report was received by the Board for <br /> Examination and Study. <br /> Dr. Francis S. O'Neil, County Health Officer, presented the monthly report <br /> of the Health Depattment. • <br /> The monthly report of Hugh Talley, County Sanitarian, was received by the <br /> Board. <br /> By unanimous consent of all the members, the Board established a policy <br /> that all offices in the courthouse should remain open for the transaction of <br /> business each Monday through Friday from the hours of 9:00 o'clock A. M. <br /> until 5:00 o'clock P. M. <br /> On motion of Commissioner Atkins, which motion was seconded by <br /> Commissioner Groce, D. F. Holder, Sheriff, was authorized and empowered <br /> to hire an additional Deputy at the minimum salary established for deputies <br /> in the Sheriff's Department, said officer to be employed as of February 1, 1959. <br /> There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting <br /> was adjourned. <br /> I <br /> Attest: Chairman <br /> • <br /> Clerk <br />
