On motion of Commissioner Groce, which motion was seconded by <br /> Commissioner Atkins, a road petition submitted by Mrs. W. F. Gaddy <br /> was unanimously approved. This petition requested that a road in West <br /> Sanford Township running from J. M. Spivey's residence to Pocket Church <br /> being known as "Old Jonesboro Road and Nickelson Road", be improved and <br /> stabalized. <br /> Miss Monica Brown, County Home Demonstration Agent, presented her <br /> monthly report. <br /> Mr. K. S. Harmon, County Farm Agent, presented his monthly report. <br /> D. F. Holder, Sheriff, presented monthly report of the activities of his <br /> office. <br /> W. D. Gregson, Veterans Service Officer, presented monthly report of <br /> the activities <br /> gof .his office. <br /> / � <br /> Mrs. Nettie B. Keith, Register of Deeds, presented report showing <br /> the collections of her office for the month of January, 1959. <br /> • James A. Potts, County Electrical Inspector, presented his monthly <br /> report. <br /> On motion of Commissioner Winstead, which motion was seconded by <br /> Commissioner Measamer, the time for listing 1959 taxes without penalty was <br /> extended for a period of ten days, said taxes to be listed only at the courthouse. <br /> Commissioner Winstead moved that the contract for the laying of floor <br /> tile in the Office of the Register of Deeds be let to 'the lowest bidder. This <br /> motion was seconded by Commissioner Atkins and the same was adopted by <br /> the unanimous vote of the Board. <br /> E. P. Clark, Custodian of the Courthouse, reported upon the condition <br /> of all buildings owned by the County. <br /> Hugh Talley, County Sanitarian, presented a report of his activities for <br /> the month of January, 1959. <br /> Dr. E. R. Shanahan, the new County Health Officer, was introduced <br /> to the Board by Mr. Talley and Dr. Shanahan then presented the monthly <br /> report of the Health Department. <br /> A road petition submitted by Evelyn McCants was, on motion of <br /> Commissioner Measamer, seconded by Commissioner Winstead, unanimously <br /> approved. This petition requested that a road in Deep River Township <br /> • running from John Alston and Alfred Johnson residences to the Mary Watson <br /> residence known as the Watson road, a distance of approximately one and <br /> one-half miles, be stabalized and added to"the State Highway System. <br /> The monthly report of W H. Campbell, County Tax Collector, was <br /> received by the Board. <br /> Members of the Lee County Hospital Board of Trustees and Mr. Paul <br /> Cragan, Administrator of the Lee County Hospital, came before the Board <br /> to discuss the question of leasing the hospital to a non profit corporation. <br /> This matter was discussed in detail by the members of the Hospital <br /> Board and the Board of Commissioners. <br /> Chairman Kelly, after the completion of the discussion, appointed a <br /> Committee composed of Commissioner Measamer, Commissioner Bc Groce <br /> and Attorney William W. Staton to work with a Committee from the Board <br /> • of Trustees of the Hospital in formulating a plan to submit to the two Boards <br /> for leasing the hospital to a non-profit corporation. <br />
