Campbell, Tax Collector, reported on collections of the <br /> County Tax Department for the month of March, 1959. <br /> Mrs. Laura B. Rosser, Supt. of Public Welfare, appeared before the <br /> Board and gave a detailed report of the activities of the Welfare Department <br /> for the preceeding month. <br /> Dr. David O. Garvin, District Health Officer, came before the Board <br /> and presented a plan to enable the employees of the County Health Dept. <br /> to join the North Carolina Local;; Government Employees Retirement <br /> System. At the request of Dr. Garvin no formal action was taken by the <br /> Board at that time. <br /> J. Shelton Wicker, Lee County Representative in the General Assembly, <br /> appeared before the Board to discuss matters of pending legislation. <br /> Mrs. Nette B. Keith, Register of Deeds, presented a report of the <br /> collection of fees by the office of the Register of Deeds for the preceeding <br /> month. • <br /> By consent of the Board, the Chairman called a public meeting for the <br /> hearing on the bill pending before the legislature to districting Lee County <br /> for the purpose of electing County Commissioners, said meeting to be held <br /> in the Courtroom at the Courthouse at 8:00 o'clock P. M. on Wednesday <br /> night, April 15, 1959. <br /> • <br /> Dr. :J., M. McKinnon, Veterinarian, .was authorized by the Board to <br /> set up a dog vaccination program for the County. <br /> L. L. Beckham, Director of Civil Defense, presented the monthly <br /> report of the activities of the Department•of/Civil Defense. <br /> • Commissioner Winstead them moved that the Boarder on record as <br /> opposing a bill to 'set-up a uniform system for valuation of property for tax <br /> purposes. This motion was seconded by Commissioner Groce and the <br /> same was adopted by the unanimous vote of the Board. The Attorney was <br /> thereupon instructed to advise Representative Wicker of this motion. <br />
