• • • Norman Brickhouse, .Assistant County Agent, presented the monthly report of the County Agent's Office. Hugh B. Talley, County Sanitarian, • presented the monthly report oChis office. Mrs. Laura Rosser, Superintendent of Public Welfare, presented the monthly report of the Welfare Department. Dr. E. R. Shanahan, County Health Officer, presented the monthly report of the County Health Department. Dr. O. David Garvin, District Health Officer, discussed with the Board the various attliarefr the District Health Department. He stressed the importance of the appointment of a County Dog Warden. After full discussion the Chairman appointed Commissioner Measamer and Commissioner Groce as a 'Committee to study the question of establishing a dog pound and appointment of a dog warden for the County. The committee wa"s instructed to study, the question and report to the Board. • W, H. Campbell, County Tax Collector, repbrted upon the collection of taxes for the•month of October, 1959. 4 L. L. Beckham, Director of Civil Defense, presented the monthly report of the office of Civil Defense. He .reported in detail upon the scheduled alert to be held in Lee County on.November 18, 1959. On motion of Commissioner Measamer, which motion was seconded by Commissioner Groce, a road petition submitted by Russell O. Spivey was unanimously adopted. Said petition requests that the Spivey Road in Pocket Township running from Center Church to the Black•Road be added to the State Highway System and stabilized. On-motion of Commissioner Measamer, which motion was seconded by Commissioner Winstead, a road petition submitted by Aquilla McGilvery was unanimously approved. Said petition requests that the Harnett Hill Road in Greenwood Township running from .the Smith Road to the G. C.
