(1) The bond order entitled "Bond Order authorizing the issuance <br /> of $51, 000 School Bonds of the County of Lee", introduced at the meeting <br /> of the Board of Commissioners held on October 5, 1959, is hereby <br /> adopted without 'change or amendment. <br /> (2) The Clerk of the Board of Commissioners is hereby directed <br /> to cause a copy of said bond order to be published with the statement <br /> as to its adoption prescribed by the County Finance Act in the Sanford <br /> Herald, a newspaper published at Sanford in said County, and such <br /> publication shall be made in the manner ,prescribed by The County <br /> Finance Act. • <br /> The motion having been duly seconded by Commissioner Winstead <br /> it was unanimously adopted'. <br /> °Le <br /> Bids for the repair off the roof of the Lee County Jail were received <br /> and considered as follows: <br /> King Roofing & Manufacturing Company, $187, 00 - <br /> Pruitt Roofing & Sheet Metal Company, $202. 10 <br /> On motion of Commissioner Winstead, which motion was seconded <br /> by Commissioner Groce, the contract was awarded to King Roofing & <br /> Manufacturing Company and they were authorized and directed to <br /> proceed with the work. <br /> • <br /> On motion of Commissioner Measamer, which motion was seconded <br /> by Commissioner Groce, a road petition submitted by Mrs. J. A. <br /> McPherson was unanimously approved. This petition requests that <br /> the Pierce Road located in Greenwood Township running from Highway <br /> No. 1' to D. J. Pierce Farm and home place be added to the State Highway <br /> System and improved. <br /> The report'of W. D. Greg son„veteran's service officer, was received <br /> by the Commissioners. <br /> The report of D. F. Holder; Sheriff,. was received by the Board. <br /> Mrs. Nette B. Keith, Register of Deeds, presented a report on the <br /> collection of fees by the office of the Register of Deeds for the month of <br /> October, 1959.. • <br /> • <br /> Bobby L. Wicker, a totally disabled veteran, appeared before the <br /> Board and asked that he be relieved of poll tax by reason of his total <br /> disability. The County Attorney thereupon advised that under the pro- <br /> visions of G. S. 105-342 a disabled veteran was entitled to exemption from <br /> the payment of poll tax. Commissioner Winstead then moved that the <br /> said Bobby L. Wicker be exempt from the payment of poll tax for the year <br /> 1959 and that the Lee County Tax Collector be relieved of poll tax charged <br /> to him in the name of Bobby L. Wicker: The motion was seconded by <br /> Commissioner Groce and the same was adopted by the unanimous vote of <br /> all the members of the Board. <br /> S. Ray Byerly, County Tak Attorney, appeared before the Board and <br /> • reported upon his progress in the collection of delinquent taxes and on his <br /> progress of tax foreclosure suits. <br /> • <br /> Mrs. Monica B. Patterson, Home Demonstration Agent, presented <br /> her monthly report. <br />
