The County Attorney then reported that the property in East Sanford <br /> Township was on'the book at a valuation of $1370 and that the property <br /> in West Sanford Township was on the book at a valuation of $3570. The <br /> East Sanford tax for the year 1959 being in the amount of $21. 92 and the <br /> West Sanford tax for the year 1959 being in the amount of $57. 11. The <br /> attorney thereupon advised the board that the Confederate Woman's Home <br /> was an instrumentality of the State of North Carolina and that the property <br /> would be exempt from taxation for the.taic'year 1959. 'Thereupon, <br /> Commissioner Winstead moved that the tax collector be relieved of <br /> tax listed in the name of Miss Carrie Gunter in East Sanford Township <br /> for the year 1959 in the' amount of $21. 92 and that he be relieved of <br /> taxes for the year 1959 in West Sanford Township listed in the name of <br /> Miss Carrie Gunter in the amount of $57. 11. Commissioner Measamer <br /> seconded said motion and the same was adopted by the unanimous vote <br /> of all the members of the board. <br /> The Clerk reported to the Board that the bond order entitled "Bond <br /> Order authorizing the issuance of $51, 000 School Bonds of the County of <br /> Lee" which had been introduced on October 5, 1959,, has been published <br /> in "The Sanford Herald" on October 19, 1959, with notice•that the Board <br /> • of Commissioners.would hold a public hearing thereon on November 2, <br /> 1959, at 10 o'clock, in the forenoon at the regular meeting room of said <br /> Board of Commissioners-at the Court House, in Sanford, North Carolina. <br /> Commissioner Measamer moved that the Board proceed to hold a <br /> publichearing on the bond order. The motion was seconded by <br /> Commissioner Groce and was unanimously adopted. <br /> ' At 10 o'clock, A. M. , the Chairman announced that the Board would <br /> hear any citizen or taxpayer who desired to be heard with respect to <br /> the bond order. At the direction of the Chairman the Clerk read the <br /> bond order and the published notice of hearing. • <br /> After the Board had heard all persons who requested to be heard, <br /> Commissioner Measamer moved that the public hearing be closed. The <br /> motion was seconded by Commissioner.Groce and was-unanimously <br /> adopted. <br /> • <br /> Commissioner Winstead moved that the following resolution be adopted: <br /> WHEREAS, the bond order entitled "Bond Order authorizing the <br /> issuance of $51, 000 School Bonds of the County of Lee", introduced-at <br /> the meeting of the Board of Commissioners held on October 5, 1959, has <br /> been duly published with notice of hearing thereon and the Board of <br /> Commissioners has, at the time and place specified in such notice of <br /> hearing, heard any and all citizens and taxpayers who desired to protest <br /> against the issuance of the bonds authorized by the bond order, and such <br /> hearing has been closed; and <br /> • <br /> WHEREAS, the County Accountant, by direction of the Board of <br /> Commissioners, filed in the office of the Clerk of the Board of <br /> Commissioners on October 16, 1959, a statement of debtincurred and <br /> to 'be incurred by the County for school purposes under bond orders <br /> either introduced 'or passed, 'complying with the 'provisions of the County <br /> Finance Act, and such statement has remained on file with the Clerk and <br /> has been kept open.to public inspection and, such statement shows that <br /> the r t"school indebtedness of the Countyri$ 4. 28°J0 of the assessed <br /> valuation of property in said County as last fixed for County taxation; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the County <br /> of Lee as follows: <br />
