• Mrs. Mary L. McAllister, District Home Economics Supervisor, then recommended Miss Mary Estelle Doyle for the position of Home • Economics Agent for Lee County. On motion of Commissioner Measamer, which motion was seconded by Commissioner Winstead, Miss Mary Estelle Doyle was unanimously elected by the Board to succeed Mrs. Patterson as Lee County Home Economics Agent at the same salary as had been.paid Mrs. Patterson. On motion of Commissioner Groce, which motion was seconded by Commissioner Measamer, the Board unanimously authorized the purchase of a portable scales for the Farm Extension Service for the sum, of $500. 00. Mrs. Laura D. Rosser, Superintendent of Public Welfare, presented the monthly report of the Welfare Department. W. H. Campbell, Lee County Tax Collector, presented a 'report of the collections of taxes for the month of November, 1959. On motion of Commissioner Groce, which motion was seconded by Commissioner Atkins, the time for the Clerk of Superior Court to file his annual audit was extended to the first Monday in January, 1960. Dr. E. .R. Shanahan, Lee County Health Officer, presented the monthly report of the Health Department and the monthly report of the County Sanatarian. E. P. Clark, Custodian of the Courthouse, reported upon the condition of all' buildings'owned by the County-. On motion of Commissioner Measamer, which motion was seconded by Commissioner Groce, the petition asking that Seawell Street in Jonesboro Township be added 'to.the State.Highway Systemwas unanimously adopted. • On motion of Commissioner Groce, which motion was seconded by Commissioner Measamer, the sum of $100. 00 was appropriated to the Advertising Fund of The Sanford Tobacco Market. On motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously authorized that the General Insurance Agency of Sanford be added to the list of approved insurance firms for the handling of the insurance for the County.
