_•••_ <br /> • <br /> On motion of.Commissioner Measamer, which motion was seconded <br /> by Commissioner Winstead, a resolution was unanimously adopted <br /> expressing the thanks of the Board to American Legion Post No. 382 <br /> for the patriotic gesture of the Post in presenting the county with a new <br /> fifty-star American flag. The resolution provided that "the Lee County <br /> Board of Commissioners accepts this new fifty-star flag from American <br /> Legion Post 382, Sanford, North Carolina, as a momenta to those having <br /> served with our country and who are no longer with us. " <br /> Dr. J. M. McKinnon, veterinarian, was unanimously authorized <br /> by the Board to set up and carry out dog vaccination program for the county. <br /> W. R. Williams, Attorney for the Sanford Improvement Corporation, <br /> came before the Board to request that the Sanford Sash & Blind property <br /> located across the Seaboard Railway from Moore Street be relieved of <br /> Taxes for the year 1960 and all subsequent years inasmuch as this property <br /> has been leased to the Sanford Improvement Corporation, a non-profit <br /> corporation for the purpose of establishing a free public parking lot. <br /> • On motion of Commissioner Winstead, which motion was seconded <br /> by Commissioner Measamer, it was unanimously resolved that the <br /> real ,property owned by Sanford Sash & Blind Company in East Sanford <br /> Township, be relieved of ad valorem'taxes for the year 1960, and all <br /> subsequent years for that said property has been leased to the Sanford <br /> Improvement Corporation, a non-profit corporation, and said property <br /> will be used for the operation of a free public parking area. <br /> Mrs. Laura B. Rosser, Superintendent of Public Welfare, presented <br /> the monthly report for the Lee County Welfare Department. <br /> • On motion of Commissioner Winstead, which motion was seconded <br /> by Commissioner Groce, the county attorney was instructed to write <br /> the State Highway Department and request that Woodrow Christian be <br /> required to move junk cars off the highway right-of-way on the Carbonton <br /> Road west of Sanford. This motion was'unanimously adopted. <br /> . Mrs. Louise Dowdy presented the monthly report of the Health <br /> Department. <br /> Hugh Talley, County Sanitarian, presented his monthly report. <br /> L. L. Beckham, Director of Civil Defense, presented the monthly <br /> report of the Civil Defense Department: - - <br /> There being no further business to come' before the Board, the <br /> meeting was adjourned until the 19th day of April, 1060, at 7:30 P.
