_•••_ • On motion of.Commissioner Measamer, which motion was seconded by Commissioner Winstead, a resolution was unanimously adopted expressing the thanks of the Board to American Legion Post No. 382 for the patriotic gesture of the Post in presenting the county with a new fifty-star American flag. The resolution provided that "the Lee County Board of Commissioners accepts this new fifty-star flag from American Legion Post 382, Sanford, North Carolina, as a momenta to those having served with our country and who are no longer with us. " Dr. J. M. McKinnon, veterinarian, was unanimously authorized by the Board to set up and carry out dog vaccination program for the county. W. R. Williams, Attorney for the Sanford Improvement Corporation, came before the Board to request that the Sanford Sash & Blind property located across the Seaboard Railway from Moore Street be relieved of Taxes for the year 1960 and all subsequent years inasmuch as this property has been leased to the Sanford Improvement Corporation, a non-profit corporation for the purpose of establishing a free public parking lot. • On motion of Commissioner Winstead, which motion was seconded by Commissioner Measamer, it was unanimously resolved that the real ,property owned by Sanford Sash & Blind Company in East Sanford Township, be relieved of ad valorem'taxes for the year 1960, and all subsequent years for that said property has been leased to the Sanford Improvement Corporation, a non-profit corporation, and said property will be used for the operation of a free public parking area. Mrs. Laura B. Rosser, Superintendent of Public Welfare, presented the monthly report for the Lee County Welfare Department. • On motion of Commissioner Winstead, which motion was seconded by Commissioner Groce, the county attorney was instructed to write the State Highway Department and request that Woodrow Christian be required to move junk cars off the highway right-of-way on the Carbonton Road west of Sanford. This motion was'unanimously adopted. . Mrs. Louise Dowdy presented the monthly report of the Health Department. Hugh Talley, County Sanitarian, presented his monthly report. L. L. Beckham, Director of Civil Defense, presented the monthly report of the Civil Defense Department: - - There being no further business to come' before the Board, the meeting was adjourned until the 19th day of April, 1060, at 7:30 P.
