� .`r. 1 gy • µti • This,group presented a plan whereby they would furnish two-thirds • of the salary for the Assistant County Agricultural Agent, beginning 1 October through 30-june, -and the County was to furnish one-third of the salary. The matter was taken under,consideration by the Board.,- - • Mr. Hurd of the Sanford Herald appeared before the Board soliciting adv- erasing in respect to the opening of the tobacco Market in Sanford and left advertising matter for the Board to consider. Mr. Dela Harries,' Alderman of the City of Sanford, appeared before the Board and presented a certified copy eta resolution which had been adopted by the Sanford Board of Aldermen. . The resolution read as follows: • • "BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Aldermen of the City • of Sanford extend their greets to the Board of County Commissioners • of the County of Lee and assure them that we are in full sympathy ' • with them in dealing with the many complex problems of their . County Government and that we pledge them our full cooperation in ' solving,these problems in our community and ask chat we be informed of any,such cooperation that they may feel we can render from time to time; that we further pledge to the Commissioners the cooperation • of our officials, employees and the use of our facilities in dealing • ' with the County problems of finance, law enforcement, education and the promotion and encouragement of all community projects • and movements aimed at the betterment and growth of our community; ' 'that we realize that it is the function of the County Commissioners to . cause the property of the entire County to be valued and revalued for • tax purposes and that our City Council is required by law to use the values fixed by them for tax purposes; we are informed that there may • benumerous inequalities of property values in the county as corn- pared with city values; we know the valuation of all the property in' the City and County equitably and fairly is a difficult and expenseive • operation but we believe it to be of the highest importance, audit is especially to our City because more than one-half of the taxable property of the County lies within the corporate iimitnt our City. • • • and that this property within the City limits must pay both the- County tax and also the City tax in addition thereto, hence, we urge a thorough and complete revaluation of all Coutny and City property at the earliest possible date so that there may be the utmost of equality t . ' in tho ever-growing tax burdens of our citizens. We pledge our full j ' cooperation in solving these problems and invite a like sympathy and • cooperation on your part in dealing with our City problems. " Commissioner Winstead moved the adoption of the following resolution: • BE IT RESOLVED, That the Lee Coutity'Board of . Comnifssio nera appreciate the desire for cooperation by the ' Board of Aldermen of the City of Sanford and hereby pledge our willingneso to cooperate with them in every manner possible on matters affecting our County and its people relating to the ' enforcement of the law, 'education, finance, taxation and all matters • relating to public interest.
