f <br /> • <br /> BOOK 6 PACE 195 <br /> REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF <br /> COMNIISSIONERS FOR LEE COUNTY <br /> Monday, 6th of January, 1964 <br /> The Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Lee <br /> County met in the Commissioners Room at the Lee County Courthouse in <br /> Sanford, North Carolina, on Monday, the 6th day of January, 1964. Those <br /> present were Chairman Sion H. Kelly, Commissioners Clyde J. Atkins, <br /> Edward W. Cox, and J. T. Ledwell. Commissioner John E. Dotterer was <br /> absent when the meeting opened. <br /> Chairman Sion H. Kelly presided and the following business <br /> was transacted: - <br /> The written report of D. F. Holder, Sheriff of Lee County, was. <br /> presented to the Board. <br /> The written report of E. M. Underwood, Clerk of the Superior <br /> Court and Er-Officio Clerk of the County Criminal Court was presented to <br /> the Board. <br /> Miss Mary Estelle Doyle, County Home Extension Agent, <br /> appeared before the Board and presented a written statistical report on the <br /> activities of her office. <br /> Miss Doyle presented a letter to the Board which reads as <br /> follows: <br /> "We, the ladies who sell on Curb Market each week <br /> wish to thank the Commissioners for their kindness <br /> and help in making our efforts successful. We are thor- <br /> oughly enjoying the improvements you have made. <br /> It's-a real pleasure to have.our booths in the Auditorium <br /> now and greet our faithful customers. <br /> Thanks again from us all. <br /> Signed <br /> Mrs. Edd Matthews <br /> Mrs. S. HaIslip, County ExtensionChairman, Mr. Bill <br /> Price, Assistant Agricultural Extension Agent, appeared before the Board <br /> and gave a report on the activities of their office. <br /> Mr. Paul Lucas, Lee County Tax Collector, appeared before <br /> the Board and gavea report on the collections of his office during the month <br /> of December, 1963. <br /> Mr. J. Chandler Eakes, Register of Deeds, appeared before <br /> the Board and gave a report on the activities of his office. <br /> Commissioner Dotterer joined the meeting and participated <br /> in the further deliberations of the Board. <br />
