Mr. E. M. Underwood, Jr. , appeared before the Board and <br /> discussed fiscal matters pertaining to the Sanford City Board of Education. <br /> Mrs. Louise Dowdy appeared before the Board and presented <br /> reports on the activities of the Health Department and the County Sanitarian. <br /> The resignation of Mr. Hal Slier as County Surveyor was read <br /> to the Board by Chairman Kelly. Commissioner Dotterer moved that the re- <br /> signation be accepted. Commissioner Ledwell seconded the motion and upon <br /> a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br /> The meeting recessed at 12:00 o'clock noon for lunch. <br /> The meeting reconvened at 2:15 o'clock p. m. with Chairman <br /> Kelly presiding. <br /> Commissioner Cox Joined the meeting and participated in the <br /> further deliberations of the Board. <br /> Messrs. 0. T. Sloan, Max Giesco, and Scott Swindell appeared <br /> before the Board and reviewed the budget requests of the Recreation Comm- <br /> ission for the coming fiscal year. <br /> The Board, upon motion made, seconded, and duly adopted, desi- <br /> gnated the following as the boundaries of the West Sanford Fire District: <br /> Beginning on U. S. 421, North at the Sanford City limits; <br /> thence N. E. to the intersection of McNeill Road, #1405, <br /> and State Highway No. 87; thence North 0.6 mile to the Mun- <br /> icipal Golf Course; thence west to the west end of Road No. <br /> 1404; thence N. W. to a point on Road No. 1403, 0.7 mile <br /> S. W. of its intersection with U. S. 421; thence, directly <br /> north to Deep River; thence N. W. to Deep River Bridge on <br /> u. S. 421; thence South to Cool Springs Church; thence S. E. <br /> along Cool Springs Road to the intersection of Cool Springs <br /> Road and Caner Road; thence east along Spring Lane Exten- <br /> sion to the Sanford City limits; thence North along the Sanford <br /> City limits line to starting point on U. S. No. 421. <br /> The minutes of the regular meeting held on May 4th, 1964, were <br /> approved and ordered recorded. <br /> Mr. J. Chandler Eakes, Register of Deeds, appeared before the <br /> Board and went over the budget requests for his office. <br /> Mr. Raymond Ledford, Director, and Mrs. Mabel Ennis, <br /> member of Welfare Board, appeared before the Board and went over the bud- <br /> get requests for the Welfare Department. <br /> Mr. W. M. Mawyer, appeared before the Board on behalf of Wayne <br /> Theaters and Northmeck Theaters to state that they had been incorrectly <br /> assessed and taxed for 19 feet of land on Carthage Street since 1954 and that <br /> they requested a refund for such taxes. <br /> Upon motion of Commissioner Dotterer, seconded by Comm- <br /> issioner Cox, and duly carried, it was resolved to pay the monthly bills as <br /> listed by the County Accountant except one item for W. D. Gregson in the <br /> amount of $10.57. <br />
